| "This letter is long over due.
You have been working as a consultant for my company for several
years now. I feel compelled to share with you my appreciation and
admiration for what you have brought to us.
You once said to me that you have given
friends million-dollar ideas. I now see that to be the case for me.
Your problem-solving abilities have not only solved what I thought
were insoluble problems, but also left me empowered to be able to
resolve related or similar problems, time and time again.
Just the other day, I was preparing for a very
important meeting, which had a potential for generating $100,000’s
in revenue. My printer was not printing. I was in a panic. After
just a few minutes on the phone with you, my problem was fixed. I
had my brochures in hand, on my way to my appointment. You are
always so conscious of making sure I understand what you have done
to resolve the problem so if it comes up again I can handle it
myself without consulting with you. I don’t know many consultants
who would give their tricks of the trade away as generously as you
do.
You have such clear methods to help teach me
to do things on my own. I remember when I was working on producing
Adobe Acrobat PDF’s for my trainings and I was struggling with the
steps to ensure security. Within a few minutes, I received an email
from you with an audio of your voice walking me through how to do
exactly what I wished. How clever! I am able to refer to that audio
anytime I need a reminder, and I don’t have to pay for more of
your time. You’ve empowered me once again.
One particularly difficult situation was when
I was told, by a sole-source vendor, that it was impossible to track
certain internet traffic going to a site in which we had an economic
interest. I had given up on finding a solution. Then, I got a phone
call from you. You told me you had come up with a workaround. You
seem to keep your clients and their current problems in your mind
and continue to work on them even after they had completely given
up. Thank you for your persistence. Etched in my mind is a phrase
you often use when you call me to give me a workaround to a nagging
problem. It is something like, "This is Rob, I was just
thinking about that problem you were having, have you considered
...." Thank you for keeping my interests uppermost in your
mind.
The monthly retainer service you provide me
with prepaid, reduced-cost hours of your time gives me the peace of
mind I would have if I had my own IT department, but without the
overhead. As a small business owner this gives me such confidence
and security when I have a question or get into a jam.
If I could say one thing to your prospective
clients I would say this: "If you have ever had what you
considered an insoluble problem, I highly recommend that you get Rob
Cohan’s brain on the job."
Thank you again for your continued support,
and for always taking on my problems as your problems."
